December 6, 2019
A gorgeous November day with a little sprinkle of snow on the ground AND some leaves still left on the trees?! YES PLEASE. But first, gotta share a little about these two because they are PRECIOUS.
“March 10th, 2017- Mike had gone to the White Tails Unlimited Banquet in Fredericksburg, IA with his dad, brother, and a couple of cousins. After, they decided to stop at Quigley’s Bar before heading home. I was the DD that night for a couple friends, so I wasn’t drinking. It was there that I had spotted a VERY tall, good-looking guy at the pool table. He caught my attention immediately! Although I am usually very outgoing, I did not have the courage to go up and talk to him. Luckily, a couple of my friends had known this tall fella’s name and proceeded to give it to me. The next day I had Facebook creeped the heck out of Mr. ‘Mike Krueger’ and decided to send him a message. It was a risky move on my part but I finally typed out: “Hi I think you’re cute bye.” He opened it, and it was four LONG days before he messaged back with: “Do I know you??” I wanted to die from embarrassment…One thing led to another and he decided to give me a chance. From that moment on, well, the rest is history. “
The proposal:
“December 16th, 2018 – Two days before the proposal. Mike and I had picked up my early Christmas present (the best one EVER, mind you) from La Porte– our Golden Retriever Duke! That whole weekend we were planning on staying home so that Duke could get familiar with his new home. But by Sunday, I was itching to show my family our new pup! Moments later, we headed off to Evansdale for Christmas goodies, movies, and dinner with my family. A ‘chill’ night…or so I thought.
An hour after we get there, Mike and my mom decided they wanted to get dinner with Mike’s parents, my parents, Mike and myself at Brown Bottle. The reasoning was–the Krueger’s had a “gift card” they wanted to use up. I was frustrated by this. I had not showered and had not brought ANY nice clothes with me. On top of that, we had Duke with us and I was excited to just hang around the house!! Alas, they were able to persuade me to go.
We headed to the Brown Bottle where we met up with Mike’s parents. All went well and there was no suspicious activity whatsoever – they played it off VERY well. I had absolutely no idea what was to come. After dinner was over, we walked outside. There was a pause, and then all of a sudden Mike dropped to one knee and popped that big ol’ question! After almost choking on my gum, I blurted out an elated “YES!” I turned around to see that Mike had hired a professional photographer and Hummer limo containing all of our siblings! We spent the remainder of the night driving around looking at Christmas lights and ended with a celebratory toast at Screaming Eagle surrounded by all of our loved ones, missing a few. “
