A few months ago I was contacted by Dan about photographing his surprise wintery proposal session with his girlfriend, Jessica. I was ECSTATIC. And also a little nervous (because February + Iowa, haha). The morning of the session did not look promising – rain, sleet, and an incoming storm right around the time we were set to shoot. We moved the session up an hour and rocked it out anyway!
My friend & second shooter, Jamie (linking her work because she’s awesome-sauce and you need to check it out!) led the way up the side of the mountain in about 18″ of snow. I honestly don’t know if I’d have been brave enough to get to this spot without her! We quietly giggled, hiding in the trees as we heard them approach – Jessica was CLEARLY confused as to why Dan was bringing her out on a nature walk (in high heeled boots) onto a road of unpaved snow. But when Dan dropped to one knee, the emotions shifted and we immediately felt the LOVE.
Dan & Jessica – I had SO much fun documenting your super sweet proposal! I cannot WAIT to watch you two get married at Ashton Hill next year! Thank you so much for such an amazing time!
Jamie – You’re the bee’s knees and I appreciate your willingness to tag along on such a sketchy-weathered day! You made this session even more fun and awesome! We might have left with sopping wet socks and boots full of snow, but I think it was 100% worth it just for the laughs!
