Ali & Blake’s wedding at the World Food Prize Hall in Des Moines, was absolutely gorgeous! The way Ali’s mother looked at her while she walked her down the staircase was enough to make anyone tear up. Ali was kind enough to send us over their proposal story.
“It was July 21, 2017 and we were spending our first few days in Burlington, VT after our move from Rochester, NY. Blake suggested we rent some bikes and ride to the beach. He proposed with my mother’s ring on the beach – I was so shocked! He took the surprise to the next level when his parents and my mom & brother came walking towards us a few minutes later. He had coordinated their travel out to Vermont. We drank champagne and spent a few days celebrating all together. It was perfect!”
And a little about their wedding day from Ali & Blake. “
“Our day was so special to us and went beautifully thanks to many helping hands. We were very lucky to have everyone we love in one place to celebrate! My favorite part was seeing Blake for the first time. It was at that moment that I could finally relax and will never forget the flood of happy emotions I felt. I am SO glad we did a first look to give us some extra time alone that day.
Our advice for other couples is don’t sweat the small stuff, make sure to hydrate and eat (lunch AND dinner), and don’t lose sight of the most important part- the commitment you’re making! Also, I would suggest writing out your thank you speech. It seems simple enough until you forget to thank really important people. I will add that choosing a photographer you love is important! The day is an absolute blur and it’s so wonderful to look back on photos that truly capture the essence of those special moments.”
