Hey guys! I'm Chelsea,
thanks so much for being here!
I'm a wedding photographer, based in heart of the Cedar Valley, located in Janesville, IA. While Iowa has kept me pretty busy, I am also expanding my business to Hawaii (where my husband and I met) in 2018!
Pour yourself a drink and pull up a chair - let's get cozy, let's get acquainted!
I first picked up a camera when my oldest daughter was about 6 months old. I was a new mom, head-over-heels in love with this tiny, magnificent little human. Time was flying by. so. fast. I was desperate to slow it down. I never mastered the art of actually stopping time, so I settled for the next best thing - memorializing milestones and moments through photographs...
I began to fall in love with photography. I loved it SO much, that I spent every second I wasn't working or sleeping on learning the craft.
I photographed my first wedding in 2012 - and I've been evolving and growing both my business and artistry ever since! I launched Chelsea Dawn Weddings, a full service wedding photography experience, in June 2015.
I recently began volunteering for a non-profit organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. We give the gift of lifelong memories through photographs to bereaved parents of infants who have passed before, during, or shortly after childbirth. Please check out the organization below if you feel at all called to do so. We hope to bring as much awareness to their mission as possible! If you're a Cedar Valley photographer (or maybe you know someone who is), please consider joining us! We are very short-handed and would be grateful for the help.
We offer several full day collections, as well as smaller ceremony & elopement coverage:
full day weddings 3200.00 +
associate 2800.00 +

Send any questions regarding pricing along with your wedding details at any time!
I do my best to work with a variety of budgets and am happy to customize a collection just for you.

I'm not interested in booking you and immediately falling off the face of the Earth. I want to get to know you - a) because you're awesome and worth knowing, and b) because I want to know what's important to you, so I can best deliver photographs you'll love for the rest of forever.
Join our bride tribe on Facebook once you've booked, so we can best stay in touch! Grooms, you can come, too :)
A signed contract and a retainer fee (1200.00) is required to book the date
I cannot guarantee courtesy calls if someone else inquires for your date. (I don't ever want to pressure someone to book before they're ready!)
Most couples are booking
12-18 months out
It is never too early to reach out!
Engagement sessions are scheduled M-F during the "on" season (May - October), and can be scheduled on Sundays (or an available Saturday) on the off season!
We'll spend about an hour getting you both comfortable in front of the camera. There will be lots of snuggles, nose wrestling, and silly games happening. Not a lot of super strict posing.
Because we only have an hour to work with, one outfit and location is ideal. (You could totally do a quick, 5 minute outfit change, I'm cool with that - as long as you're cool with losing that time for your photos).
Our session might involve walking a little ways - so bring a pair of flats or comfy shoes, just in case!
Wear something you feel CONFIDENT in, and come with full hearts, ready to love up on each other :)
Adventure sessions last up to two hours and are perfect for couples who like to get outdoors and explore! They give us the time we'd need to venture out in multiple outfits, too :) You'll get a chance to practice your moves for your first dance, as well as learn how to do an aesthetically pleasing dip or twirl :) While I get to ask funny questions about your relationship like,
"Who made the first move?"
Love stories are why I do what I do -
Lets get your story out for the world to see!
(and if you have a dog - you'd better believe they're allowed to come be a part of the journey!)
